Scott Lincoln Senior Service Hydrologist NWS Chicago Subject: Change to flood impact categories on the Fox River at Elgin, Illinois Effective September 15, 2022, flood impact categories for the Fox River at Elgin, llinois, (NWS identifier ELGI2) will change. These changes were coordinated with representatives from the Kane County Office of Emergency Management and the Elgin Fire Department. Minor flood stage will change from 714.0 feet to 713.0 feet. Moderate flood stage will change from 715.0 feet to 714.0 feet. Major flood stage will change from 717.0 feet to 716.0 feet. No change is being made to the action stage of 711.0 feet. Forecast and warning information is available from the NOAA/NWS Chicago web page at weather.gov/chicago as well as the NOAA/NWS Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) web page at water.weather.gov.
